Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and collaborative educator to serve as Vice Principal for Grades 7 to 12. This leadership role offers the opportunity to support the academic, social, and emotional development of middle and high school students while working closely with teachers, students, and families to foster a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong instructional leadership, a commitment to faith-based values, and the ability to guide students through the important developmental years of junior and senior high school.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Principal in designing and implementing curriculum and instructional practices aligned with Alberta Education standards and the school’s mission.
  • Support and mentor teachers in delivering differentiated, engaging, and inclusive instruction for Grades 7 to 12 students.
  • Monitor student progress, graduation requirements, and academic achievement, while implementing data-driven interventions and support strategies.
  • Lead and participate in professional development initiatives that foster continuous improvement and instructional excellence.
  • Support pathways planning, student goal-setting, and post-secondary readiness initiatives.
  • Academic Leadership

Student Support & Discipline

  • Oversee student support systems, including academic interventions, behaviour management strategies, attendance monitoring, and social-emotional support.
  • Partner with teachers, parents, counsellors, and support staff to address behavioural, academic, and social concerns.
  • Implement fair and consistent disciplinary procedures in alignment with school policy.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive school culture that promotes student responsibility, leadership, and well-being.

Administrative Duties

  • Assist the Principal in scheduling, staffing support, resource allocation, budgeting, and other operational needs.
  • Coordinate school events, parent-teacher conferences, student activities, and staff meetings.
  • Manage standardized testing and ensure compliance with provincial and federal education requirements.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including academic performance, attendance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Support high school programming, course planning, timetabling, and graduation tracking.

Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the school at community events and outreach initiatives.
  • Promote family engagement through volunteer opportunities, information sessions, and regular communication.
  • Encourage student participation in leadership, service, cultural, and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Master's of Education or an equivalent degree recognized by Alberta Education.
  • Minimum of 6 years of teaching experience preferred, ideally within junior high and/or high school education.
  • Previous leadership experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development, diverse teaching methodologies, and inclusive learning practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and committed to ongoing professional growth.
